The paradox of Russia

It has long been noted that any nation’s behavior in the international arena is exactly in line with the ethno-psychological and mental features of the people inhabiting it. Having occupied certain territories of Ukraine, the Russian military among other things, engaged in looting. The brave Russian warriors would grab pretty much anything: silverware, women’s underwear, home appliances, and vehicles. One of the witnesses even captured a dog kennel hoisted on a Russian military truck retreating from Ukraine to Belarus. The loot was often taken out in cars also stolen in Ukraine. In the Belarusian town of Mozyr, the Russians “invaded” several post offices, rushing to send their loved ones in Russia loads parcels with their “tropheys,” stolen from ordinary Ukrainians. The villages located in the northwestern part of Kyiv region were especially affected as the occupiers were marching through them like a horde, grabbing along everything they saw on their way. In many Russian cities, goods stolen in Ukraine surfaced on Avito, an online sales platform…

It should separately be noted how bewildered and shocked those Russian soldiers where when they saw the standard of living of an average Ukrainian. In particular, they were astonished to realize that even in small Ukrainian villages roads are well paved and all households have steam boilers installed. They just couldn’t believe that almost all villages they saw in Ukraine had stable gas supplies. From intercepted communications, the world learned how they enviously told their families and friends that in Ukraine, people live in what they called “luxurious” apartments, while shops are fully stocked on food products and other goods.

In the same way, the Russian Federation, echoing its ethno-psychological code, steals the territories of neighboring Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova, destroyed Syria, completely wiping Aleppo off the face of the earth, destroying the unique, ancient historical artifacts. Having taken advantage of Alexander Lukashenko’s weakness, Putin actually gained Belarus for nothing, now using its territory as he sees fit. Putin steals cowardly, insidiously, on the sly, under the pretext of “protecting the Russian-speakers, ‘Russian world,’ and brotherhood of the Slavic peoples.” Unable to ensure own well-being, Russia compensates for its primitive nature and backwardness by destroying everything it gets its hands upon. Having failed to competently capture the territory of Ukraine, the Russian military simply opted for annihilating everything in its path, which led to thousands of deaths, destruction of beautiful, comfortable towns that were turned into a surreal nightmare unfathomable by the standards of the 21st century. Russia is the greatest geopolitical marauder of all time, having expanded over 1/8 of the land by stealing territories from other nations. Meanwhile, it’s only decline and degradation which reign over it.

As Russia’s true essence is lies, backwardness, and insidiousness – all of which are primordial features of the so-called “Russian man”, who looks with envy over his neighbor’s fence and never misses the opportunity to steal something, remaining confident in his rightness, impunity, and exclusivity. And he reacts to someone else’s achievements and progress in the only way he knows – rage. Putin cultivates the myth of Russia’s exclusivity, rattles his nuclear weapons and boasts of the mythical power of the Russian army. But he is not able to explain to his own population why Russia hasn’t yet created a single competitive car brand and why, if imports of raw materials are severed, Russia will face a shortage of everything – from meat and dairy to computers and smartphones. The paradox of Russia is that, with all those resources at its disposal, it hasn’t been able to achieve any basic quality indicators that are familiar even to the countries of the former Socialist camp. Putin has no answers to any of these questions, so he is trying to make his neighbors feel even worse than people feel in Russia.
